Didn’t I Just Say That?
I was at a meeting of one of the nonprofit boards I am on, and I came up with an easy solution to a situation that was taking too much time and discussion. I made my suggestion, and, as usual, I must have been under my cloak of invisibility because no one commented. (I’m not a “quiet talker” by the way.) A few minutes later, one of the guys - the board is mostly guys - made the same exact suggestion. Everyone thought it was brilliant.
Yes, it happens all the time.
So, do you really want a men’s world so much? Take a look around. You have it.
A world defined by the loudest barker, not the best thinker.
[and I’m not saying that women never employ the same mechanism to the advantage of the moment. It’s just a matter of being strong with the weak—a.k.a. cowardice—whatever the gender.]
Now, check the results.
